Be first to know! Paid Newsletter Subscriptions (help keep the site going!) |
There's a fundamental misalignment between writing a regular newsletter and a solid investment strategy. The faultline is caused by the fact that investing wisely requires patience, whereas a newsletter requires regular updates. I have been keeping an eye out on matters, but every idea that surfaces gets shot down. This can go on for months :) Although a lot of people may be back at work, there is not a lot that happened on the JSE today in terms of newflow. There were 2 director trades:
JB Walters bought R499k of Phumelela Gaming & Leisure at 1567.53c
AW Gooderson's family trust bought R29k of Gooderson Leisure via a family trust, at 58c per share
On the face of it both transactions look interesting.
There were 12 director purchases in Phumelela in 2013. However these transactions all took place at a lower share price (ranging from 1191c to 1300c). JB Walter is also a non-executive director, so wont have as much insight into the current status of the business as the executive directors. A bullish signal, but not enough to entice me.
Although there's been the purchase by AW Gooderson (the Executive Chairman of the company), the waters have been muddied by a string of sales by Colleen de Klerk, an executive director of the company, at prices as high as 60c a share. There were also sales by Rajen Nannoolal, the financial director, at share prices as high as 69c and 75c per share in June/July 2013. And then the purchase by AW Gooderson is relatively small.
